We’re excited to invite you to join City Hope as we head on mission to Zambia, Africa with our friends from Charis in Action Ministries (Charis In Action Flyer).
Zambia is a welcoming country where English is the national language, making it easy to connect and build meaningful relationships. Our team will serve in several key ministry areas while also experiencing some of Africa’s most unforgettable wildlife.
Trip Details
- Dates: July 1 -10, 2026
- Cost: $3,700
Includes all transportation (flights and in-country travel), lodging, trip insurance, most meals, and ministry expenses.
Requirements
- Mission Trip Application Form: Due February 28, 2025. This can be accessed HERE.
- A $500 non-refundable deposit due at the time of registration (by February 28, 2025).
- Pre-Trip Training: Four required meetings:
- March 15 – City Hope Church (immediately following service)
- April 12 – City Hope Church (immediately following service)
- May 17 – City Hope Church (immediately following service)
- June 14 – City Hope Church (immediately following service)
- Valid passport
- Participants must be partners of City Hope Church and 16 or older (those under 16 must participate with a parent).
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can go on this trip?
Anyone who is a partner at City Hope Church, ages 16 and up is welcome to apply. Participants under 16 must attend with a parent.
Do I need a passport or vaccines?
- A valid passport is required.
- No vaccines are required for entry into Zambia at this time, but you can speak with your doctor if you have personal health questions or want optional travel medications.
What is the cost of the trip and what does this include?
The $3,700 trip cost includes:
- Round-trip international flights
- All in-country transportation
- Lodging
- Trip insurance
- Most meals
- Ministry supplies and expenses
Personal spending money and a few meals during travel days are not included.
NOTE: Trip price is subject to change based on airfare availability and other variable travel costs. We will do our best to communicate this promptly and transparently.
What will we be doing in Zambia?
Charis in Action has the ability to cater each trip to the unique gifting and makeup of each team. Our ministry will take place in and around Lusaka, Zambia. We will participate in evangelism, outreach, discipleship, and support for ongoing local ministry. We may engage with:
- Local pastors and church plants
- Village children and families
- University students
The trip also includes a safari experience to see Zambia’s wildlife.
Is the trip physically demanding?
- Moderate mobility is helpful. We will be walking, standing for portions of ministry, and traveling on uneven surfaces in village areas. If you have concerns, reach out—we’re happy to talk through expectations.
How do I prepare for the trip?
All team members must attend four pre-trip training meetings on:
- March 15 – City Hope Church (immediately following service)
- April 12 – City Hope Church (immediately following service)
- May 17 – City Hope Church (immediately following service)
- June 14 – City Hope Church (immediately following service)
These meetings cover cultural training, team building, ministry preparation, packing tips, and safety guidelines.
When is payment due?
A $500 non-refundable deposit is due with your application. Remaining payments should be made on the following schedule:
- February 28 – $500 Deposit Due
- March 28 – $1,100 Due
- April 28 – $1,100 Due
- May 15 – $1,000 Due (Final Payment)
Can I fundraise a portion of my trip?
- YES! The internet is full of fundraising ideas. We have known many to have success with: bake sales, closet clean outs, t-shirt sales, garage sales, personal letters, etc. Pray about the gifts and talents God has given you and how you might use them creatively in this endeavor.
What will the lodging be like?
- We will stay in safe, clean team lodging arranged through our ministry partners. Rooms may be multi-occupancy. More detailed lodging information will be shared at training meetings.
What should I pack?
- We will provide a detailed packing list during training. Clothing typically includes modest, comfortable attire suitable for warm weather, ministry activities, and safari days.
Is Zambia safe?
- Our ministry partners are experienced and knowledgeable about the area. We travel with local leaders and follow safety protocols. As with any international travel, situational awareness and team guidelines help ensure safety.
